this super bowl parade is possibly the dumbest idea ever. no one can get into / out of the city. the only way to get around is the T, which everyone knows is a joke. way to go pittsburgh. why didnt they do this on a weekend again?
i know everyone is super excited, but this was just dumb.

It is. However, I have a great view from the USX building, and I don't have to be amongst all the people. Crowds = suck. They better have all this shit cleared up by the time I get off work. >.<

I wish I was down there!
I heard getting around the downtown jam was pretty rough this morning, though. I have coworkers who come that way, they said it was hard to get through.
But that parade looked so freaking great!

Honestly, what the hell is wrong with you is it really that big a deal that for two or three hours you were inconvenienced. I'm willing to bet that you were no where near downtown when this was going on. 250,000 people made it into and out of the city with no problem, you had two days to figure out what you were going to do about getting around, don't bitch about it do sometihng about, if you had to get through town get there early or get there late, take the t to station square hop on the boat to get into town. This is a great event for millions and a fantastic economic boost to downtown pittsburgh. Quit being a bitch.

Quit being a bitch. hmm, i was at sixth and grant for work today and becki works at tenth and penn. you're right, nowhere near downtown. and the T stations were unmanageable. were you anywhere near downtown today? you probably were, celebrating with the masses. i wonder how much money was spent on the parade. it would probably look pretty good going towards the county's deficit. it's just funny that the city bend over backwards for something as trivial as football. it would be nice if they cared about the problems plaguing the region as much as the steelers. i just find it obnoxious that people get this excited over something like football when that energy could be spent on something much more productive.

i was down there, and it was a sea of idiots and obnoxious beyond belief. I waited on the idiots who came through my building, and then got to walk through them after the parade was over.
I couldn't even take the T because of the sheer amount of people clogging up the terminals. screaming and yelling and walking in the middle of streets that AREN"T blocked off for the parade is not acceptable, and also people who aren't used to being in the city, apparently can't figure out that the WALK signals light up when you're allowed to walk.. it's not just a goddamned free for all.
and being drunk at noon on a tuesday.... i wish i could be that awesome, seriously.

edit: this is directed at andrew's comment, just so there's no confusion. oh seriously go fuck yourself. calling people who were stoked about something cool 'masses of idiots' is just so contrarian and dumb.
victory parades don't happen all that often. they don't last all that long. and i had no problem getting to the victory parade, going to lunch (which involved crossing from one side of grant to the other, which was probably the only tricky thing about downtown today), doing some shopping, and going back home. seriously. no problem at all. it involved a bit of extra walking, but that's it. my friends who work downtown who i met for lunch had no problems either. neither did the 'masses of idiots'.

The comment about how much money the parade cost is hilarious.
Do you know how much money the Super Bowl and the Steelers in general brought to this city? I forget the numbers, but google around or search the Post-Gazette if you're dying to know.
I would have been there if I didn't work, so thanks for calling me an idiot guys.

Duh, Chuck and Kirby - You just dont understand what its like to have a better level of understanding about everything and be above such silly things as football and having pride for your home team and city. this super bowl parade is possibly the dumbest idea ever. no one can get into / out of the city. the only way to get around is the T, which everyone knows is a joke. way to go pittsburgh. why didnt they do this on a weekend again? i know everyone is super excited, but this was just dumb. Im pretty sure thousands of people got into and out of the city just fine today. Just because you got inconvenienced for one day doesnt make everyone else an idiot.

If I worked in downtown Pittsburgh today I would have either taken the day off or told my boss I was going to be late.
I would have been drunk by noon either way.

I bet if 250,000 people were in town for something you are into, a band or whatever, it would not only have been fine, but probably great... I wish I could have been there. I heard Polamalu was crowd surfing again.
