Best/freshest group in hip-hop at the moment. www.myspace.com/gocoolkids is their url. Their debut EP was just released after a series of quality mixtapes. So, damn, good.

ehh. It's cookie cutter normal rap. There is nothing special here.
Go listen to Black Star, Mos def, Talib Kweli, Saul Williams, KRS 1, Jurassic 5 and some Fat Lip is you want quality HIP HOP, not rap.

What's cookie cutter about this that can't be said about some of the artists you named? I do listen to most of acts you named, as well as a plethora of other ones (I mean you did name the most popular artists that white kids cite when discussing hip-hop). The Cool Kids are quite far from being the standard rap that your comment leads me to believe that you hardly listened. I'm not saying they're prolific and will go down in history as the greats, but for two kids they have a ton of talent at writing some fun songs. One of the things a lot of people credit them for is not fitting the mold of rappers who are obsessed w/ their image, their lyrics are quite the opposite.

When I listen to hip-hop, I look more for Lyrics then beats. And with these cool kids, their lyrics are like...PAGER. It's entertaining, sure, i'm not knocking them or saying they suck, they just aren't anything special.
Best Lyricist of all time? Notorious B.I.G. Hands down. And the "popular" artists as you say that I mentioned are all amazing lyricist, Jurassic 5 being probably the weakest out of the bunch. The best popular name in GOOD hip hop right now is Lupe Fiasco, and he doesn't get ANYWHERE near as much credit as that cat deserves.
OH, and the most popular artists white people name? Hey kid, you used the word FRESHEST when referring to a RAP group, not HIP HOP. so if you're knocking me for being a white kid, I think you need to take a few steps back and look in a mirror, and quit using words like FRESH TO DEF SON to give an opinion on a rap group.

I think me and Scott are too nerdy and...well...white to ever start a gang war.
Just two different ideas on music. That and I just like to argue.

I used fresh in the sense that "these Red Delicious apples I picked up at Shop 'n Save this morning are really fresh and tasty!" Not as though I'm speaking to Will Smith in 1992, "yo, those new kicks are fresh dog!"
