#1 - Gig sharing.
This would be for bands looking for an opener, or band(s) looking to fill out a show.
I know when I first started playing out opening for bands was a fantastic way to get into new venues and to network.
#2 - For lack of a better term, "Backscratching".
We all know how hard it can be to get people to come out to your shows, they always have an excuse blah blah blah. Especially if you play a bunch of shows in a given month.
I've always thought it would be a great idea to get bands to support each other by coming out to each other's shows.
Here's how it would work: a band announces a show they really need to pull some bodies to, and others can pledge to attend. For every person that attends, the band owes back that number to the other band(s) that helped out. Buy a ticket from me for a gig, and then I owe you a ticket back for a future show of yours.
Live music will only thrive if there's a supportive community willing to embrace it. And if the musicians themselves don't support their own it's unlikely that the general public's going to do it.
And of course the best thing of all - exposure to new bands and sounds you otherwise would have missed.

we had a gig sharing thread.... and no one used it.. so we combined it into the SHOWS thread.. also the 'backscratching' thread kinda got lumped into shows... Alot of people complained that there were too many topics.. so we combined... so really just throw anything relating to SHOWS in the SHOWS topic... thanks for the insight though!!!
