Not really impressed. Rolled back a bunch of stuff that wasn't really legal in the first place. Bringing us back to where we were with Clinton. That ain't progress. His "getting it" is an act that drew in the yuppie vote. Are we going to stop assisting Israel or interfering in world affairs with this man? Are we going to withdraw troops from all the other countries they are stationed in. Are we going to abolish the Federal reserve? Are we headed towards an era of draconian drug laws? Further acts for campaign finance reform to quell freedom of speech? Is he going to reduce the amount of people in prison that that we are not the highest in the world as far as incarceration. Rolloing back the horrible doings of the last president is pretty much mandatory in his situation. Almost anyone would have done so. rolling back illegal edicts is progress to me. and no, military bases accross the world will never be closed. in a utopian society some of the things you mention would work. this isn't utopia though. suggested reading: noam chomsky, "Hegemony or Survival"

So there is a contradiction between not being an anarchist and being inspired by ideas from that school of thought when you have rejected other ideas that were a part of the ideology? what a narrow minded indavidual you must be. Some of my ideas are inspired by right wingers some from extreme left. I've never kept a party line I run each idea through my process of reason and make up my mind after that. You accuse me of holding a standard that could only exist in fantasy. In reality I did vote for someone who was far below my standards in regards to liberty. I don't really ever expect to see these things happen doesn't mean I will stop calling a spade a spade. Doesn't mean I will fall over myself to treat someone who is basically an extension of the Clinton administration as something revolutionary.

So your answer is what, To be content? To bow before the new fucking ruler? To treat him like he's more than he is? The less politicians are opposed the more civil rights they will be allowed to take away. Evryone here needs to go buy an AK-47 so that the fact of of armed populous will heng over the heads of the new administration as a warning against any overreaching of government that may come. And grow a garden and start a motherfucking compost pile.

I think Obama being in office will be detrimental to the whole world of grass roots activism. People will think "OK cool we don't have to stop the war and save the planet because the charming handsome man is going to take care of all that" Is anyone suspicious that he was put in for just that purpose? Will there be a decrease in people recycling and reducing consumption if they are sure that their problems will be solved by Presidential benevolence? Oh anmd I really don't think its that far fetched to remove our military from all these overseas bases. Other countries don't have that situation going on. And where is Obama on the subject of the US military being sold for use of protecting investments and corporations oversees. That has surely caused the death of more Americans than anything else in history. Why has he never spoken out on this. That is not a man who deserves any praise. At least Ron Paul was vocal about that.

Really ? He seems to be causing a lot of people to let their guard down. How much oppression can government get away with when the natural distrust has eroded? They put a fucking different face on the corporate puppet presidency and people are falling for it.

I think a general optamism and high expectations and letting down ones guard are pretty much the same when dealing with a president. Being on guard means always being suspicious. You can't put yourself in the mentality that someone wielding so much power can be performing their duty for the good of everyone.

Joe, I'm not quite sure why you all continue to have a battle of wits with an un-armed person. Berto is a flake, there's no point in even trying to make sense of anything he says.. There's my thought for the day... week, year....

IF NOTHING, THEN FUCK YOU. I have no ideals. I had a thought of the day. It took me a few trys to express that. I am trying to increase my autonomy with my compost and my garden. But my spiritual awakening has just begun. Just like Jesus. That ols zen master from palestine didn't realise the prophetic satanic potential demon power of his until he was like 30. Furthermore This thread is about a though and how it relates to other thoughts. Most importanntly the lack of paranoia and suspicion of most people. Ideologically I am an agnostic. My berto philosophy is still in the works. Thats why I discuss my ideas with others even bigots like you. . There is an old saying "convictions are a greater enemy of truth than lies".

There is no optimal world in my eyes . there is not even the possability of anything getting better. Maybe. There ws a thought of dissapoinment a few days ago in the blind enthusiasm of many people. If you had your own thoughts you would express them whether or not the context of your life was keeping with them.
