hey jo, who is playing the benefit show on sunday? i'd like to stop down to that, as the dude is a good guy.... Yeah, he's a good kid and I really feel for him and his family. The kids from the sandwhich shop came to me on Sat night and asked to do this. I had nothing scheduled for this Sunday so they took it and are literally putting this together with less than a week's notice. I talked to one of them last night. So far I believe its Steam Boat Whiskey Thief, another band with Whiskey in its name and one more. They will try to get started shortly after the Steeler game. The are supposed to stop in this evening with their complete line up and a flyer for me. We'll put a donation bucket out during the game, I'll make something for everyone to eat starting at half time and then they'll put on a show after the game passing the bucket throughout the night. I was waiting to get complete details from them tonight to post it here. Even for folks that don't know Rick. He's a little dude, good kid, that has a severe nut allergy. He apparently ate a cupcake that had peanut butter in the icing. Went into anaphalactic shock and landed in the hospital. He seemed to be lucid and okay and then had a siezure/high fever that put him in a coma. The latest MRI shows some severe brain damage. His mom lives in Aliquippa and is having to travel back and forth daily to the hospital. He has no insurance and these kids just want to try to help out a little.

Thanks, but its what anyone that can should do. The kid is one of my regulars. And always would offer to help with the dishes and stuff when I was cleaning up after the Hayride meals or whenever I put out free food for games, etc.
I remember I used to have to tell him if I used any kind of nut product when I make the vegan meals so he wouldn't eat it.
His friends are truly devastated by this and just want to do SOMETHING to try to help. If putting on a show is the least we can do.. why the hell not?

Bump Seriously folks.. this is a good weekend to be in Bloomfield. Stop by with a new toy for the toy drive tonight or tomorrow (depending on whether your tastes lean to the old timey pop of tonight or full out metal tomorrow) and stop by on Sunday for the benefit for Rick Majors and help out this cause.
